OTTAWA: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that If Republican frontrunner Donald Trump wins the 2024 elections it could harm the international effort to fight the challenge of climate change.
Former President Donald Trump, who denies the science of climate change, stated earlier that if elected he would renege on a 3 billion dollars Washington’s pledge to international fund meant to assist developing nations cut emissions. The former President has made attacking the Biden administration’s investments in renewable energy projects a core part of his drive message.
Trudeau told the media that there is a concern especially around the environment at a time where it is so much significant to move forward on building and protecting an economy of the future.

He added that Trump’s administration that goes back on the fight against the challenge of climate change would slow the world’s progress in means that are concerning to him.
Prime Minister Trudeau had a rocky relations with former President Doland Trump, who once called him ” weak and dishonest”, and he was one of the first leaders to congratulate President Joed Biden on his 2020 election win.

Meanwhile, the United States Supreme Court has rejected to immediately decide Donald Trump’s claim that the former President cannot be prosecuted for trying to overturn his 2020 polls defeat, permitting a lower court to continue reviewing the matter.
The justices, refusing an extraordinary appeal by US Special Counsel Jack Smith, declined to effectively leap-frog a lower appeals court to expedite a final verdict on Trump’s claim of immunity ahead of his trial, due to start in March.
