ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister of Communications, Shahid Ashraf Tarar, recently conducted a visit to the control room established under the Ministry of Interior to oversee election preparedness.
The visit, attended by Home Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani, included a comprehensive briefing on the control room’s functionalities by the Coordinator National Action Plan.
During the briefing, Minister Tarar emphasized that the control room would play a pivotal role in monitoring the security and law and order situation throughout the upcoming elections. He reiterated the caretaker government’s commitment to providing unwavering support to the Election Commission, emphasizing that transparent elections are a constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission.
Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar assured that all necessary measures would be taken to uphold security and maintain law and order during the electoral process. He underlined the establishment of the control room as an integral part of the overall strategy to ensure a smooth and secure electoral environment.
Highlighting the significance of real-time monitoring, Minister Tarar expressed the need to stay in direct contact with all stakeholders to swiftly respond to any emergency situations. The control room, according to him, serves as a crucial link in this chain of communication and vigilance.
In adherence to the Prime Minister’s directives, Minister Tarar announced plans to visit all provinces to assess the security situation comprehensively. This initiative aims to review and finalize security arrangements, ensuring a thorough and proactive approach to handling any challenges that may arise.
Notably, Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar holds the position of Chairman in the Committee established by the Prime Minister for the Security and Administrative Affairs of General Elections. His active involvement underscores the government’s dedication to conducting elections in a secure and transparent manner.
