ISLAMABAD: The Coordinator to the Federal Tax Ombudsman and Vice President of Gold Ring Economic Forum, Meher Kashif Younis, said on Tuesday that the resumption of cargo service between Pakistan and Russia will enhance bilateral trade by providing a more effective and reliable means of transporting goods.

He said that it could facilitate the exchange of different commodities, such as machinery, agricultural products, textiles, and raw materials, between the two nations.

Younis said improved cargo service could contribute to economic prosperity in both countries, leading to enhanced export opportunities for Pakistani businesses, allowing them to access the big Russian market more easily.

Benefits for Russian Companies

He said Russian that companies can benefit from increased trade links with Pakistan, leading to investment and new business ventures, and the cargo service can help diversify trade routes for both nations.

He further said that direct cargo service could provide a faster and alternative transportation option, decreasing reliance on traditional routes and possibly lowering transportation costs.

Younis, who is also Chairman of Kyrgyzstan Trade House, added that boosting cargo service can contribute to vast regional connectivity initiatives in addition to consolidating economic ties not only between the two nations but also with other Central Asian countries.

He said that the improved connectivity could benefit regional trade integration, promote financial cooperation, foster geopolitical ties in the region, and facilitate people-to-people interactions and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Russia.

He added that it was important that the actual impact of the cargo service resumption will depend on multiple factors, including the frequency and reliability of the service, the volume of trade, customs procedures, infrastructure development, and the overall business environment.
