Carl Weathers, Actor from Rocky, Predator, Dies at 76

LOS ANGELES: Carl Weathers, the renowned Hollywood actor known for roles in Rocky, Predator has died at the age of 76.

His family in a statement on Friday stated that that Weathers died peacefully during his sleep.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” his family said.

The statement further said that Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life.  It said that despite contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, Carl was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, partner and friend.

He was born January 14, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father was a day laborer.  He was very good at sports and also played football at the professional level. He started his film career as an extra while still playing football.

Weathers, starred as boxer Apollo Creed against Sylvester Stallone in the Rocky movies. He costarred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987’s Predator, and most recently he appeared Star Wars series The Mandalorian as Greef Karga.  He was also seen in Michael Jackson’s “Liberian Girl” music video.
