ASTANA: At the Central Asia – Germany summit in Astana on Tuesday, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of environmental and climate issues in the country’s relations with Germany.

The summit, which was also attended by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and leaders from Central Asia, highlighted the strategic partnership between the two regions, Turkmen media reported.

“Germany is a leader in addressing environmental and climate concerns on the global stage,” President Berdimuhamedov stated. “We greatly value Germany’s commitment to collaborating with Central Asian nations and its proactive role in advancing ‘green’ projects and programs.”

The President also referenced the “Green Central Asia” conference held in Berlin in 2020, noting its role in fostering dialogue and planning collaborative environmental initiatives.

The second Central Asia-Germany Summit, continuing the strategic partnership initiated at the first meeting in Berlin in September 2023, is taking place in Astana. The summit underscores Turkmenistan’s dedication to enhancing multilateral cooperation and engaging in constructive international dialogue.
