ISLAMABAD: Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), has emphasized to the universities that, besides teaching, they must generate excellent citizens as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment.
While talking to media persons, Dr. Mukhtar said that conflict permeated various sectors of society, including families, and deserved a collaborative and coordinated response.
Sharing his thoughts on the issues within society, he highlighted the importance of youth in society and the role of youth in policy-making for sustainable peace and preventing extremism in society.
He asserted that by working together, we could mold our children’s brains and direct them along a road of compassion and respect. He said that NACTA and HEC Pakistan had renewed their commitment to working together for peace, tolerance, and diversity on college campuses by signing a Letter of Intent (LOI). —APP
