QUETTA: Balochistan Caretaker Minister for Information Jan Achakzai said on Tuesday that the protests in Chaman ended following the release of 4 detained demonstrators on the guarantee of local elders.
He said in a statement that the elders promised that the protesters would not disrupt the normal life of the town.
Earlier, demonstrators had blocked the Chaman Passport Office, prompting local law enforcement (Levis and police) to remove the barricades. However, the roadblocks have since been cleared, and traffic remains normal.

The protests started from opposition to the newly implemented one-document requirement for travel between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which stipulates that a passport is mandatory.
The local administration has reiterated its commitment to enforcing this new policy and warned against any attempts to create a law and order situation, stressing that such action will be met with stern action. – APP
