ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives has established the Champions of Reforms (CoR) network aimed at inclusive governance, bringing together hundreds of professionals from different backgrounds to contribute their expertise towards long-lasting and concrete governance reforms in the country.
Through knowledge-sharing and collaboration, the CoR network aims to make policy-making transparent, citizen-centric, and demand-driven, establishing a culture of inclusivity and accountability, the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives said in a statement on Sunday.
The CoR network boasts many professionals, including development experts, engineers, academics, IT professionals, and doctors. By bringing together these diverse voices, the initiative harnesses the expertise and consolidated knowledge of the private sector, ensuring important advice and feedback are incorporated into policy decisions. This collaborative approach is a historic moment in the governance history of the country, as it directly involves the public in the decision-making process, the statement added.
Through the CoR network, experts participate in meetings and roundtable consultations covering different sectors.
Initiative Provides for Wide Discussions
Member of Governance and Innovation at Planning Commission Dr. Adnan Rafiq said that over the past five months, 15 sessions had been held, providing a platform for wide and constructive discussions among policymakers, experts, and stakeholders.
These discussions have addressed important topics like urban water resource management, digitization of development projects, rural area census, and initiatives for youth and women’s empowerment. By fostering the exchange of views and dialogue, the network contributes to informed decision-making processes.
Moreover, the Ministry has established the Governance Innovation Lab to promote transparent governance through civic engagement.
