ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has failed to break the impasse surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 as the apex cricket body postponed another meeting due to no response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has told the ICC that there is no purpose of any meeting until India responds to their demands in an expected “new formula” to host the mega event, Geo Super reported.
The delay in submitting the response from India forced the ICC to postpone the meeting for the third time.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had proposed a “Partnership Formula” in a bid to address the deadlock. The formula, also referred to as “Fusion Formula,” suggests that India plays its ICC matches in Dubai rather than Pakistan, and Pakistan plays its matches in Dubai instead of India when hosted by either country.
Earlier, an Indian media outlet claimed that BCCI has agreed on the new model which is expected to be executed. However, the Indian board is yet to make anything official.
Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that the Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in both Pakistan and the UAE, with India’s matches taking place in Dubai. Meanwhile, PCB has stressed the need for a written guarantee from the ICC.
PCB Chairman hopes for ‘positive outcome’
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday expressed hope for positive developments as talks are underway with the International Cricket Council (ICC) over hurdles created by India.
The PCB chief, while talking to journalists assured that as soon as something is finalised, the public would be informed. He added that he would not make any statement that could harm the ongoing discussions.

“I will not discuss anything about it as talks are underway,” he said, adding that whatever may be the decision of ICC, it will be good for Pakistan and international cricket.
He further said the ICC had postponed Saturday’s meeting as the decision is yet to be made on the Champions Trophy. The PCB chairman also expressed resolve to improve domestic cricket in order to find talented players.
He said existing playgrounds would be upgraded and new grounds would be constructed by procuring land if there is no such facility in any city.
