SHANGHAI: China has sent a large consignment of emergency medical aid to Lebanon as Israeli attacks continue, Chinese state media reported on Monday.

The shipment, weighing approximately 58 tons, includes vital medical supplies such as anesthesia machines, urine collection bags, disposable tracheal intubation tubes, surgical suits, and oxygen masks.

The supplies, totaling 3,601 boxes, are expected to reach Beirut later today after being dispatched from Shanghai.

This humanitarian aid comes amid escalating violence in Lebanon, where Israeli airstrikes have intensified since September 23. The strikes, primarily targeting Hezbollah, have resulted in over 1,500 casualties and displaced more than 1.34 million people.

Meanwhile, Israel has also intensified military operations in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have killed over 42,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

On October 1, Israel further escalated the conflict by launching a ground incursion into southern Lebanon, deepening the crisis in the region.
