China, Kenya Officials Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs on Thursday in Beijing.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the enduring friendship and mutual support between China and Kenya over the past 60 years.

He highlighted the strategic guidance provided by the two heads of state, fostering mutual trust and friendship.

China commended Kenya’s commitment to the one-China principle and expressed unwavering support for Kenya’s sovereignty, independence, and national stability. Wang conveyed China’s readiness to strengthen political mutual trust, deepen comprehensive cooperation, and elevate China-Kenya relations to new heights.

In response, Mudavadi acknowledged the significant outcomes of practical cooperation between Kenya and China. He noted the Belt and Road initiative’s substantial support for Kenya’s national construction and economic development.

Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s steadfast adherence to the one-China principle, expressing support for China on matters concerning Taiwan and human rights.

Mudavadi conveyed Kenya’s eagerness for closer collaboration with China, expressing high regard for the construction of a community with a shared future for all and various global initiatives proposed by China. Kenya expressed its readiness to actively participate in and continually contribute to these initiatives. Mudavadi also expressed Kenya’s interest in learning from China’s development concepts and enhancing the exchange of experiences.
