BEIJING: China’s Peking University on Wednesday launched the construction of an innovative molecular imaging and theranostic medical probes platform in Huairou Science City, located in the northeastern suburbs of Beijing.
The platform will encompass a construction area of 29,000 square meters and require an estimated investment of approximately 630 million yuan (equivalent to about 88.67 million US dollars). It stands as a pivotal component of the multi-modal and multi-scale biomedical imaging project, a significant national scientific and technological infrastructure completed in Huairou Science City in 2022 and initiated trial operations last year.
According to Yang Zhi, a scientist at Peking University’s National Biomedical Imaging Center, the platform is slated to become operational by June 2026.
Once operational, it will enhance the functionality of imaging facilities and facilitate technology transformation.
Moreover, it will offer enhanced precision in observing disease progression and enable comprehensive study and analysis of key scientific issues in biomedicine.
