BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Monday said that China and Pakistan have the resolve and capability to foil any attempt to sabotage friendly ties between the two countries, and vowed that the terrorists will pay the price.
The spokesperson, in a statement, said that China will continue supporting Pakistan’s counterterrorism effort and socioeconomic development. “We remain committed to cooperation to deliver more benefit for both peoples,” the spokesperson reaffirmed.
On Monday, provincial Home Minister of Pakistan’s Sindh, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, claimed that four suspects, including a mastermind behind the suicide bombing near Karachi airport that targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers, have been apprehended.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi alongside Sindh police chief, Ghulam Nabi Memon, the Minister said that the main suspect behind the attack was identified as Javed, who coordinated the operation, including reconnaissance and providing information about the Chinese nationals’ movements.
The outlawed terrorist group, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Minister identified the suicide bomber as Shah Fahad, whose body was mostly destroyed in the explosion. “CCTV footage also helped identify the bomber and two accomplices. Fragments of the vehicle used in the attack were recovered from the scene,” he added.

Minister Lanjar assured that further efforts are underway to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the planning and execution of the attack.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, pledged to enhance security for Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
He underscored that protecting Chinese citizens remains a top priority, especially in light of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, which are integral to the bilateral partnership.
Naqvi assured that all possible steps are being taken to secure a peaceful environment for Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
