China Renews Blue Alert for Rainstorms

BEIJING: China’s National Meteorological Center on Friday renewed a blue alert for rainstorms as heavy downpours are likely to lash many regions of the country.

The center said that from 2 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday, heavy downpours and rainstorms are likely to hit regions such as Chongqing, Shaanxi, , Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Hubei, Sichuan, Henan, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet, Xinhua reported.

Chinese cities likely to experience heavy rainfall

Some parts of these regions are expected to experience heavy rainfall, with maximum hourly precipitation surpassing sixty millimeters, accompanied by gales and thunderstorms, according to the center.

It has advised local governments and residents to take proper precautions.

Schools and kindergartens have been advised to ensure the safety of children, while drivers have been asked to remain alert and cautious due to potential road waterlogging and traffic jams.
