BEIJING: China has expressed its willingness to collaborate with Arab states in the creation of a strategic energy partnership aimed at fostering mutual benefits and long-term friendship. The proposal was put forward by Zheng Jianbang, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress of China, during the sixth China-Arab States Expo.
Speaking at the expo’s opening ceremony held in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, Zheng outlined China’s commitment to working closely with Arab nations to develop a new framework for multi-dimensional energy cooperation. This collaboration aims to bolster the security and stability of the global energy supply chain.
China-Arab States Cooperation
China’s approach includes a “oil and gas plus” cooperation model, which involves expanding cooperation in upstream field development, engineering services, storage, transportation, and refining in the oil and gas sector. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on advancing clean, low-carbon, and green cooperation with Arab states.
Zheng Jianbang also highlighted China’s eagerness to deepen cooperation in the production capacity sector, with a particular focus on areas such as automobile manufacturing, high-end equipment manufacturing, and new materials. These efforts are expected to contribute to the diversification of Arab countries’ economies.
Moreover, China is actively seeking collaborations with Arab nations in high-tech sectors, including 5G technology, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, aerospace, and aviation. These partnerships align with the mutual goal of promoting technological innovation and development in both regions.
