BEIJING: China on Tuesday welcomed the positive developments in the restoration of relations between Iran and Pakistan and voiced support for their efforts to enhance mutual trust and deepen cooperation through friendly consultations, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.
“We stand ready to collaborate with Iran and Pakistan to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and uphold regional peace, stability, and development,” he remarked during his routine briefing.
In a joint statement issued by the Pakistani and Iranian foreign ministries, it was announced that ambassadors from both countries are expected to resume their respective posts by January 26. Additionally, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian is set to visit Pakistan on January 29 upon invitation.
Qian Feng, Director of the Research Department at the National Strategy Institute at Tsinghua University, emphasized that China, while maintaining friendly relations with both nations, is dedicated to fostering the long-term relationship between Iran and Pakistan.
He highlighted China’s significant role as a responsible power in promoting bilateral ties and regional peace and stability.
Chinese experts underscored that Iran and Pakistan value China’s role in regional and international affairs.
They believe that China will continue to act as a mediator, facilitating diplomatic channels for Iran and Pakistan to resolve differences, build trust, and dispel doubts.
