China’s Largest Cargo Drone Completes First Flight

BEIJING: Local media sources have reported that China’s largest unmanned cargo drone has completed its first flight.

The twin-engined autonomous aerial vehicle (UAV), designed to carry a payload of just over 1.5 metric tons, made its maiden flight on Sunday, August 11th.

The drone, developed by Sichuan Tengden Sci-tech Innovation Company, successfully completed its 20-minute maiden flight in southwestern Sichuan province.

Sichuan Tengden Sci-tech Innovation Co., Ltd. is a prominent domestic company specializing in the research, manufacturing, and application of intelligent aerial vehicles to meet market demand.

Known as the AVIC HH-100, the drone has a wingspan of 52.8 feet (16.1 m) and a height of 15 feet (4.6 m), making it slightly larger than the popular four-seater Cessna 172 light aircraft.

The aircraft features easy loading and unloading capabilities, high reliability and safety standards, and advanced intelligence. It is expected to enhance the country’s air cargo transportation capabilities and contribute to the development of smart logistics solutions for a low-altitude economy.
