BEIJING: China’s Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs, Yue Xiaoyong, participated in the fifth meeting of the Moscow Format talks on Afghanistan, held in Kazan, Russia on September 29, 2023. Invited as the Chinese representative, Yue Xiaoyong addressed the meeting and emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts in resolving the ongoing situation in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, Yue Xiaoyong engaged in extensive discussions with representatives from various parties involved in the Afghan peace process.
China’s Role for Peace in Afghanistan
Yue Xiaoyong’s presence at the consultations underscored China’s continued support for international initiatives aimed at bringing stability to Afghanistan. In his address, he stressed the significance of a political settlement, encouraging all parties to engage in constructive dialogue and find common ground for sustainable peace. He also reiterated China’s commitment to assisting Afghanistan in its development and reconstruction efforts.
