Chinese Association to Invest $13b in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: China Asia Economic Development Association (CAEDA) will invest $13 billion in the free trade zone of Pakistan in the next five years.                                            

The initial layout of this investment is between $8 billion to $13 billion while it is likely to reach $30 billion.                                             

The free trade zone is aimed at catering domestic needs of Pakistan and also those of the international market. A duty-free shopping mall is also part of this zone where international brands will be available for the citizens of Pakistan.

The China Asia Economic Development Association has also given 20 fishing boats to Pakistan with an investment of $500 million.

A delegation of the Association, supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council has discussed agreements with Ministries of Energy and Health regarding refined petroleum products, investments in pharmaceuticals and solar power grid connection.
