BRASILIA: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s support for all efforts aimed at preventing conflicts from escalating and promoting the restoration of peace.
During a media briefing on his recent trip to four African countries, including Egypt, Tunisia, Togo, and Cote d’Ivoire, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s condemnation of all actions that harm civilians and its steadfast opposition to any violation of international law.
Chinese FM Reiterates Support for Independent Palestinian State
Addressing the situation in the Red Sea, Wang called for an end to the harassment of civilian vessels. He urged relevant parties to refrain from exacerbating tensions, work collaboratively to safeguard the security of sea lanes in accordance with international law, and earnestly respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries bordering the Red Sea, including Yemen.
In reference to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Wang highlighted the Palestinian issue as the core of the Middle East dilemma. He reiterated China’s firm support for the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights and their longstanding aspiration to establish an independent state.
