Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Inaugurates CPEC Corner in Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong on Saturday jointly inaugurated the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Corner at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) library in the capital. 

Earlier today, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister arrived Islamabad to participate in the fourth meeting of the CPEC-Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination. 

Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Weidong underscored the special significance China places on its relationship with Pakistan in its foreign policy. He emphasized the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, referring to them as “iron brothers” and trusted friends, as per a statement from MoFA.

Weidong reiterated China’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with Pakistan and acknowledged Pakistan’s unwavering support on core issues. 

He expressed continuous support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and commitment to deepening cooperation for Pakistan’s economic development, progress, and prosperity.

Acknowledging Pakistan’s crucial role as a partner, Weidong stressed China’s dedication to contributing to the well-being of the Pakistani people. 

In response, Foreign Secretary Qazi welcomed him to Pakistan and highlighted the robust and enduring nature of the Pakistan-China friendship.

Qazi emphasized the comprehensive support that the friendship enjoys at political, institutional, and public levels in Pakistan. Stressing the importance of the bilateral friendship for regional peace and stability, he expressed Pakistan’s readiness to further expand and strengthen cooperation across all areas.
