Chinese Vice President to Attend Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony

BEIJING: Chinese Vice President Han Zheng will travel to France as President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative to attend the opening ceremony and other events of the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris on July 26.

He will visit at the invitation of the host country France and the International Olympic Committee, announced by foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Monday.

Mao emphasized China’s enduring commitment to sports development and active engagement in the international Olympic movement during a daily news briefing.

Vice President Han Zheng’s participation in the opening ceremony and related activities underscores China’s support for both the global Olympic movement and France’s hosting of the Games, Mao added.

Furthermore, Mao expressed China’s well wishes for the success of the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, hoping that the event would foster increased global solidarity and cooperation.
