NEW DELHI: On the sixth day of the Delhi Chalo march, individuals from diverse religious backgrounds also began joining to support the rights of Indian farmers.
The Church of South India in Kerala also stepped forward to endorse the Delhi Chalo march. Church Pastor Malayil Sabu Koshy expressed their firm commitment to justice and equality through their support for the protest.
“We must ensure farmers receive their due rights for the sustainable development of our country’s agricultural sector,” stated Pastor Malayil Sabu Koshy. He further urged the government to either withdraw from the World Trade Organization agreements or reconsider the farmers’ conditions.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge strongly criticized the Modi government, labeling it as the worst for Indian farmers. “The Modi government’s continuous false claims are putting immense pressure on the farmers, who play a vital role in sustaining the country,” remarked the Congress leader.
In Haryana, mobile and internet services have been suspended until February 19.
Modi’s security personnel halted the Delhi Chalo march, scheduled for Tuesday, at the borders of Shambhu and Khanouri. An announcement was made to continue the march until the farmers’ demands are met.
