ISLAMABAD/BARCELONA: Cisco is working with Mercedes-Benz (MB) to add its Webex conferencing instrument to the dashboard of Benz cars arriving in dealerships in the following weeks, the Mercedes-Benz said on Monday, as it seeks to turn the vehicle into a mobile office.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E Class would be equipped with Wi-Fi and a cellular data connection, which means drivers can install the Webex apps to appear directly on the touchscreen of the car’s infotainment system without needing a cell phone.

As a safety precaution, the users can use audio when the car is moving but can use whole features when it is parked, automatic transcription, including video meetings, content-sharing, and reactions.

Working from the house as a result of the pandemic provided a boost to video-conferencing platforms, such as Webex, Microsoft, and Zoom Teams, but growth has slowed since the lifting of covid lockdowns, and companies are seeking opportunities to expand.

Zoom was tied up with Tesla to equip its cars with conferencing instruments, and Cisco plans to announce other collaborations at the MWC telecoms conference in Barcelona that week.

They include one with Samsung company for Webex integration in its flagship phones and with Intel for private 5G.
