Classified Papers from Biden’s Time as Vice President Discovered in Private Office

ISLAMABAD: According to a knowledgeable source, a number of classified documents from United States President Joe Biden’s time as vice president was discovered in a private office late last year.

The US National Archives has asked the Department of Justice to investigate the matter further, CNN quoted the source.

The private office is in Washington which Biden used as part of his association with the University of Pennsylvania. From 2017 to 2019, Biden served as an honorary professor at the university.

The documents or government materials were found in November when Biden’s lawyers were closing the office.

Officials must give up classified papers at end of government service

Less than twelve such documents were found and it is yet not known what they relate to or what purpose they were taken to Biden’s office. As per law, federal office bearers must give up government documents and classified material at the end of their service with the government.

The special counsel to President Biden, Richard Sauber said that the White House cooperating with the Justice Department and National Archives regarding records that are of the Obama-Biden administration’s time. A few of these documents have “classified markings”.
