WASHINGTON: Former President Bill Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are privately urging donors to continue supporting President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, as concerns mount within the Democratic Party following a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump.

Sources close to the Clintons told CNN that the power couple has been actively engaging with donors, urging them to maintain their backing for Biden despite recent challenges. While respecting Biden’s leadership decisions, the Clintons are reportedly emphasizing the importance of solidarity within the party and the electoral process.

“It doesn’t matter what anybody says or thinks — unless Biden decides he will drop out of the 2024 race or the delegates vote for somebody else, he is the party’s presumptive nominee,” one source familiar with the discussions said.

However, concerns over Biden’s campaign viability have been amplified by recent fundraising difficulties. Major Democratic donors have expressed apprehension about the campaign’s financial strategy, noting a decrease in fundraising events and communication from Biden’s team.

“I don’t know how you campaign with a broadening electoral map without money. I don’t know what they’re doing. I’ve never seen this strategy where you think you can win without money,” one prominent donor remarked.

Despite these challenges, Biden’s campaign remains bolstered by strong grassroots support and forthcoming fundraising efforts scheduled across several key cities. Campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz affirmed plans for upcoming major fundraisers and continued emphasis on grassroots contributions during an interview on MSNBC.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has also been actively engaging with donors, defending Biden’s candidacy and attending fundraising events to bolster support. On Saturday, she participated in a fundraiser in Massachusetts to maintain momentum despite external pressures.
