BERLIN: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed confidence on Wednesday that US Vice President Kamala Harris could win the upcoming presidential election in November, describing her as “competent and experienced.”
His remarks came following President Joe Biden’s surprising decision to withdraw from the race for the White House last Sunday, which has effectively positioned Harris as the leading candidate for the Democratic party nomination.
Speaking at his annual summer press conference in Berlin, Scholz said that he believes Harris has a strong chance of winning, and the ultimate decision rests with American voters. He praised Harris as a politician who is knowledgeable and capable, noting their personal interactions as genuine and unscripted exchanges of ideas.
