SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: Traders, politicians, and community leaders alike have voiced serious concerns about the deteriorating power supply situation in the Indian-occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to reports from the Kashmir Media Service, Aijaz Shahdhar, President of the Kashmir Trade Alliance, highlighted the detrimental impact of prolonged power cuts on both the region’s economy and the everyday lives of its residents. Shahdhar emphasized that these persistent outages are not only disrupting business operations but also causing significant disruptions in households and daily routines across occupied Kashmir. Similarly, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Front, echoed these concerns during discussions in Srinagar, emphasizing the severe hardships and inconveniences faced by the masses due to erratic power supply in the Khansahib area of Badgam district.
The extended power outages have starkly revealed discrepancies in the Narendra Modi-led Indian government’s touted development claims regarding occupied Kashmir. Despite exporting power generated from the region’s waters to illuminate several Indian states, the inhabitants of occupied Kashmir endure darkness due to the lack of essential electricity supply.
