SRINAGAR: In a passionate call for unity, senior Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra has urged all regional political parties to come together and thwart the communal and polarizing agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking at a public gathering in Surankote, Poonch district, Karra emphasized the critical need for unity to protect the political future of Kashmiri generations.

Karra underscored the consequences of failing to counter the BJP’s divisive strategies, warning, “our coming generations are not going to forgive us” if they don’t act now. He urged political parties to transcend their affiliations, regional interests, and caste-based politics, emphasizing the urgency of uniting against the BJP’s agenda of communalism, hatred, and polarization.

Highlighting the BJP’s fervor to retain power, Karra referenced the wisdom of Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, a prominent writer, who stated that rulers who exploit religion to bolster their rule or to satisfy their thirst for power are weak leaders and risk ensnaring their people. Karra stressed the importance of preventing such pitfalls.

Karra also emphasized that the upcoming Assembly elections would determine the future leadership and governance of Jammu and Kashmir for the years to come. Drawing on his experience, he recalled warning the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in a similar manner, foreseeing a political catastrophe on the horizon. He advised course correction to avoid reaching a point of no return, citing historical events as evidence.
