KARACHI, Pakistan: A lady constable has been suspended in Karachi, after her TikTok video, filmed in police uniform, went viral on social media.   According to the reports, Constable Maria Gill was stationed at Gizri police station. The DIG South, Syed Asad Raza, swiftly took action over the viral video and suspended her.  Syed Asad Raza remarked that such ‘irresponsible’ conduct is intolerable as per the conducts of the Police Force, emphasizing that law enforcement is not a stage for personal stunts.

This incident follows earlier warnings from the former AIG Karachi, who had criticized the rising trend of uniformed TikTok antics among officers. Former Police officer Imran Yaqoob Minhas stated that police personnel should perform duty rather than making TikTok during duty hours.

The recent development take place as the government has recently tightened the reins on social media use for civil servants. An office memo from the Establishment Division now prohibits government employees from engaging with media or sharing any official content without prior clearance, local media reported.
