BAKU, Azerbaijan: The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan is scheduled to convene a plenary session on Tuesday to address matters related to the recent presidential election, as reported by Trend, citing the Constitutional Court itself.
The session will focus on the formal approval of the Central Election Commission’s (CEC) protocol concerning the outcome of the extraordinary presidential election held on February 7, 2024. Seven candidates participated in the election.
According to official data from the CEC, incumbent President Ilham Aliyev secured a significant victory in the election, receiving 92.12% of the total votes after the completion of ballot processing.
The remaining candidates obtained the following percentages of votes: Zahid Oruj – 2.17%, Razi Nurullayev – 0.8%, Fazil Mustafa – 1.98%, Elshad Musayev – 0.66%, Gudrat Hasanguliyev – 1.72%, and Fuad Aliyev – 0.53%.
Notably, independent assessments from organizations such as the US-based Oracle Advisory Group, the Citizens’ Labor Rights Protection League, the Social Research Center, and the Ray Monitoring Center consistently reported high percentages of votes in favor of President Ilham Aliyev, ranging from 92.4% to 93.9%.
This election marked a historic milestone for Azerbaijan, as it was the first time that the electoral process covered the entirety of the country’s territory, including 26 polling stations in regions recently liberated from Armenian occupation.
