Following a gunfight with the village volunteers of Leikinthabi Santipur on Monday, suspected Kuki militants set a car, four farms, and four farmhouses on fire.
According to sources, at around 3.30 am, suspected Kuki militants assaulted from the Tombirok hill range, which is under the control of Sekmai Police Station. According to accounts, the local volunteers also reacted, and the gunbattle raged until 10.30 am.
When the Central forces vehicles tried to enter the area at Koirengei, Awang Potsangbam, Awang Leikinthabi, Sekmai Bazar, and Pheidinga, a big group of women stopped them.
A Kangleipak flag (also known as a Salai Taret flag), which had been raised on Tombirok Hill on Sunday, was also vandalized by the alleged Kuki militants.
Witnesses reported seeing a DI Tata traveling through Kanglatombi toward Motbung while hauling three dead bodies.
The sources continued, “The suspected Kuki militants set fire to a farmhouse in Chirik village near Mapao Khullen, three farmhouses in Chanbilok, a Maruti 800 car bearing registration number MNA3487, and clothing.” When the volunteers from the hamlet started looking for the Kuki militants, they observed them moving toward the hills of Chirik village.
Women and children in particular have been seeking shelter in the Mapao Khullen Community Hall for the Khongnangpokpi Kom villager population.
