LONDON: Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Stephen Twigg, met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, in London.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the core values of the Commonwealth, emphasizing the organization’s potential to significantly impact the current geopolitical and economic landscape for the benefit of its member nations.
Sadiq highlighted the National Assembly of Pakistan’s focus on enhancing the skills of its members and staff. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the CPA and the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in providing training, especially in legislative drafting and parliamentary procedures.
Stephen Twigg praised Pakistan’s role in advancing the Commonwealth’s development agenda. He mentioned that the CPA had established connections with UK universities for courses in Parliamentary studies and suggested that Pakistani universities could participate in similar joint ventures.
