ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a project of strategic importance having logistics, economic, financial, and connectivity value for China and Pakistan along with other regional countries.

Dr Arif Alvi, in a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, who called on him, at President House, said Pakistan would welcome other countries to partner and benefit from the CPEC project.

The President said that the full operationalization of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and CPEC project was a significant milestone and urged the Chinese Information Technology sector to invest in Special Economic Zones to take advantage of Pakistan’s liberal investment regime, cost-effective human resources, tax incentives, and cyber data protection policy.

The president stressed the need to fully operationalize road linkages between Pakistan’s Gawadar Port and China in all weather conditions, throughout the year, to completely utilize their capacity and achieve their true potential.

The president said that Pakistan had taken realistic measures to ensure the security and safety of Chinese nationals and workers working on the various development projects in Pakistan.
