SYDNEY: Cricket Australia spokesperson announced on Tuesday that an investigation is underway concerning Glenn Maxwell, the prominent all-rounder, who is said to have been hospitalized after a night out. The panel aims to interview the 35-year-old regarding a recent incident in Adelaide.
Reports from Australian media suggest that Maxwell was admitted to the hospital last Friday, following his attendance at a concert featuring the band Six & Out, composed of former cricket stars, including Brett Lee.
“Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further details,” said a spokesperson.

Maxwell has been excluded from the upcoming 50-overs series against the West Indies in early next month, though Cricket Australia asserts that this decision is unrelated to the incident in Adelaide.
Cricket Australia has stated that he is anticipated to make a comeback for the Twenty20 series against the West Indies, commencing on February 9 after the conclusion of the one-day international games.
While Maxwell’s last appearance in Test cricket dates back to 2017, he played a pivotal role in Australia’s 50-overs World Cup victory over hosts India late last year.
The incident in Adelaide marks the latest in a series of setbacks for Maxwell, including missing a World Cup match in India due to an injury sustained from falling off a golf cart. Additionally, he suffered a broken leg in November 2022 when he slipped at a friend’s birthday party.
