ISLAMABAD: Serena Hotels, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan, UNESCO, the Aga Khan Foundation, and KOICA, recently organized a musical extravaganza, ‘Mystic Melodies,’ as part of its Cultural Diplomacy initiative.
The event aimed to spotlight Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through the lens of folk music, fostering a deeper understanding of the country’s musical traditions.
Distinguished guests, including ambassadors, government officials, and business leaders, gathered to experience the vibrant tapestry of Pakistan’s cultural identity. Renowned artists like Hadiqa Kiyani, Irfan Ali Taj, and talented students from the Lief Larsen Music Center and the School of Disabled Children took the stage, showcasing the nation’s musical legacy.
The Leif Larsen Music Centre, established in 2011 at Altit Fort, played a pivotal role in nurturing traditional musicians from Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. The centre’s mission is to train youth in various traditions and genres of mountain music, connecting them with Pakistan’s artistic soul.
The chief guest, Mr. Jamal Shah, Minister of National Heritage and Culture, highlighted the significance of such programs in preserving culture, promoting architectural excellence, and integrating music into the vision of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. His insightful speech shed light on the diverse facets of these initiatives and their role in fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural heritage.
