GAWADAR: Pakistan Customs has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle Iranian diesel valued at Rs40.4 million, in Gwadar, Balochistan.

During a targeted operation in Gwadar, Customs Intelligence intercepted and seized two oil tankers that were transporting 80,000 litres of Iranian diesel worth Rs40.4 million. These tankers were allegedly en-route to Balochistan at the time of the operation.

Director-General of Customs, Faiz Ahmed, revealed that accompanying the seized oil tankers were receipts from a private fuel station. However, upon investigation, these receipts were determined to be counterfeit.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar recently issued directives to customs authorities and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to combat the smuggling of various goods, including sugar, petroleum products, urea, agricultural products, and more. The directives were conveyed during a high-level meeting focused on enhancing smuggling control in border areas.

The meeting, chaired by the caretaker prime minister, included the participation of key government officials and representatives from law enforcement agencies.
