Czech President Injured in Motorcycle Accident

PRAGUE: President of Czech Republic Petr Pavel was injured while riding a motorcycle, the presidential office in a statement said on Thursday.

“The injuries are not serious, but they will require a short observation” at the Military University Hospital Prague (UVN), the office said on social media X.

The hospital confirmed on X that the president was brought to the hospital with an injury that was not serious.

It said that the President was treated and hospitalized for observation.

Czech police later said that the injury did not happen on the road but on a closed sports circuit.

It said that is why they are not treating the matter as a traffic accident.

Pavel, 62, is known for his love for motorcycle riding. According to a local newspaper Denik Nsthe president was injured on a closed circuit in the Central Bohemia region.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in a message on X, wished the president “a speedy recovery.”

In April, Pavel was wounded at a shooting range in Uhersky Brod during a visit to the Zlin Region, of the Czech Republic. He suffered a minor laceration near his eyebrows while shooting a long gun, but the wound did not require medical treatment.
