Dacoits Attack Hindu Community’s Worship Place in Sindh’s Kashmore

KASHMORE, Pakistan: A gang of dacoits attacked a Hindu community’s place of worship, reportedly with rocket launchers, in Kashmore district of Sindh during the wee hours of Sunday.

The assailants also attacked the adjoining homes belonging to the community in the Ghouspur police station’s jurisdiction. They fired indiscriminately, prompting a police party led by Kashmore-Kandhkot SSP Irfan Sammo to reach the scene, Dawn reported Sunday.

He said that the assailants fired rocket launchers at the place of worship, which was closed during the attack. It opens annually for Bagri community’s religious services.

He added that they after the attack, and a search opertion was underway in the area to arrest the assailants numbering eight to nine.

Meanwhile, a member of the Bagri community Dr Suresh said that the rocket launchers fired by the dacoits could not explode, resulting in no loss of life.

He urged the police to protect the community, saying the attack had panicked the residents.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said it was alarmed by reports of deteriorating law and order Kashmore and Ghotki, where about thirty members of the Hindu community, including women and children, have allegedly been held hostage by organised criminal groups.
