ISLAMABAD: India declared that four soldiers had died in a grenade attack by unknown terrorists in Rajouri district.

According to some experts, the Rajouri incident may have been a self-inflicted Pulwama-style attack designed to shift the G-20 summit from Srinagar.

By justifying the incident, India could also justify the participation of the Pakistani foreign minister in the SCO meeting.

However, some retired Indian officers and analysts started to blame Pakistan for the incident, accusing banned organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba of being responsible.

The incident occurred at a critical time for India, as the country was preparing to host the G-20 meeting from May 21 to 23 in Srinagar. The purpose of the meeting was to showcase the normalcy of the law and order situation in Kashmir to the world.

However, the participation of most of the G-20 countries was in doubt due to the worsening situation in Kashmir and the disputed status of the region.

India under severe pressure to ensure G-20 meeting’s success

The Modi government was under severe pressure to ensure the meeting’s success, as severe protests and strikes by Kashmiris were expected during the event.

Additionally, Pakistan’s offer of peace to India had undermined India’s efforts to isolate Pakistan on the external front, and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto’s possible participation in the SCO meeting in Goa had further complicated matters.

However, Pakistan has rejected India’s accusations and has called for an independent investigation into the incident.

The tensions between the two countries have escalated in recent months, with both sides blaming each other for various incidents.

The international community has urged India and Pakistan to resolve their differences peacefully and avoid any actions that could escalate the situation further.

The success of the G-20 meeting in Srinagar remains uncertain, and it will depend on the ability of both countries to resolve their differences and work towards a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue.
