DHAKA: English batter Dawid Malan knocked a stylish hundred under pressure to drive England to a splendid three-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first one-day international played in Dhaka on Wednesday.

He scored an unbeaten 114 off 145 balls as the guest side reached the target with eight deliveries to spare after the home side managed to dismiss Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, and James Vince.

Earlier, England bowled out Bangladesh for 209 in 50 overs, with Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, Jofra Archur, and Mark Wood getting two wickets each, while Najmul Hossain was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 58 on board.

After electing to bat first, the home side took a decent start, with skipper Tamim Iqbal scoring 23 runs. But after English pacer Chris Woakes earned the first breakthrough for his side with the wicket of Liton Das, the follow-up batters were unable to provide a solid stand for the team.

Tamim Iqbal was bowled by Wood before the introduction of the spinners into the game.

Moeen Ali dismissed Shakib Al Hasan for eight, followed by the dismissal of Mushfiqur Rahim by Adil Rashid. Other batters added less to the total.

Chasing 210, England took a poor start with the bat, with Taijul Islam picking up 3-54 and accompanied by other pacers and spinners while reducing England to 103-5 halfway through the innings with Roy, Buttler, and Vince all gone to the pavilion for single-digit scores. However, Malan was there and was adding score to the total.

Jacks scored 26, while Moeen showed some resistance while adding 38 to the scoreboard.

However, Malan stood firm and guided the side till the end of the contest with his splendid hundred. His innings included eight fours and four sixes.
