Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon has served show-cause notices to the administration of six schools and colleges for closing their educational institutions on November 8 without prior approval of the authorities.

The notice said the situation in Islamabad is normal, and roads are clear, but schools and colleges were closed on November 8, 2022, without considering ground realities. It said that abrupt closure of the institutions was unjustified and might affect the teaching-learning process besides the academic loss of students.

Schools and college management were instructed to avoid any closure of educational institutions without the advice of concerned authorities to ensure the continuation of the teaching-learning process.

In another development, the Rawalpindi district administration, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, announced two holidays on Monday for all educational institutions in Rawalpindi due to the law-and-order situation.

The decision was taken amid Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march and several protests that erupted after the assassination attempt on Imran Khan during Long March in Wazirabad. The closure of the educational institutions in Rawalpindi Tehsil was further extended for one day on Thursday due to security reasons.
