Debt of Soldiers to be Repaid by Relentlessly Eliminating Terrorism: Pakistan PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday attended funeral prayer of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to local media, the funeral prayer was attended by a large number of senior military officers, ministers, civil authorities, and locals. Shehbaz Sharif also met with the parents of Shaheed captain and expressed deep condolences. Shehbaz Sharif has said that the sacrifices of their brave soldiers and citizens are a debt on then that “We must repay, relentlessly eliminating terrorism from our nation”.

He told the parents of Shaheed that the sacrifice of their brave son would not go in vain and prayed for the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

Separately, in a statement via social media, he said that he was deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Pakistan Army personnel including a captain in a targeted attack in District Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, the military’s media wing said on Monday that the funeral prayers of seven security officials, including an army captain, who embraced martyrdom in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Lakki Marwat on Sunday, were offered in Bannu,

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the funeral prayers of 26-year-old Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas, a resident of Kasur, along with 50-year-old Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir from Skardu, 34-year-old Lance Naik Muhammad Anwar from Ghanchi, 36-year-old Lance Naik Hussain Ali from Ghizer, 33-year-old Sepoy Asadullah from Multan, 27-year-old Sepoy Manzoor Hussain from Gilgit, and 31-year-old Sepoy Rashid Mehmood from district Rawalpindi were offered.

According to ISPR, Peshawar Corps Commander, senior officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army, and local people attended funeral prayers of the martyrs.

The ISPR said that the bodies of the martyred have been taken to their native home towns where they will be laid to rest with full military honour.  The Armed Forces of Pakistan remain resolute and committed to eliminating the menace of terrorism from the motherland at all costs. These sacrifices of our martyrs strengthen our resolve against terrorism and our love for the motherland.
