WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that Republicans and Democrats should come together to adopt a strong bipartisan law to hold major technological companies accountable.

Most importantly, the US President said that he wanted to see “serious protections for the Americans’ privacy,” including putting limits on how much data biometrics like location and health information can be taken. He also highlighted the specific danger to kids.

President Joe Biden said that they must hold social media companies accountable for the experiment they (social media companies) are running on their children for money. The US President said that youth also struggles with violence, bullying, mental health, and trauma.

Biden also urged reform of the Communications Decency Act to force technology companies to “take responsibility for the content these companies spread and the algorithms they utilize.”

Both Democrats and Republicans have spent much of the past many years investigating different sides of the tech sector, largely agreeing that there are issues with the power of Meta’s Facebook, Alphabet’s Google, and others while largely disagreeing on how to overcome those problems.
