ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned the citizens to remain color and avoid irrelevant outings during the prevailing heavy foggy situation in most parts of the country, which could lead to health issues.
According to an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department on Wednesday, most of the areas in Punjab, plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and upper Sindh are under dense fog these days and could prevail for the coming couple of weeks.
Media reports, quoting the met office, mentioned the heavy foggy situation could remain in the affected parts till January 14, with a slight decrease later on.
PMD Weather Forecast, Chances of Rain
The statement issued by PMB also mentioned that there is a little possibility of rain in some parts of Baluchistan. However, other parts of the country are likely to witness dry and cold weather.
It predicted that a rain-bearing westerly system would likely enter Baluchistan province on January 04 and may affect parts of the province till January 05.
Under the influence of the same weather system, light to moderate rain-wind/thunderstorm with snowfall over the mountains is expected in Chaghi, Quetta, Ziarat, Qilla Abdullah, Chaman, Qillah Saifullah, Loralai, Pishin, Mastung, Zhob, Kalat, Musa Khel, Kharan, Harnai, Sibbi, Noshki, Khuzdar and Makran coast on Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, due to the prevailing foggy conditions, PMD stated that the day temperature is likely to drop 03-05 degrees Celsius in the coming days, which could also disrupt flights, railways, and highways/motorways operations in the country.
Travelers have been advised to remain alert and cautious during these days due to the reduced visibility level and to avoid unnecessary movement during the morning and night hours.
