Deployment of FC Approved in Azad Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: As many as six platoons of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) will be deployed in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to enhance the security situation in the valley.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved the deployment of the FC during a meeting with AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq in Islamabad on Sunday.

The law and order and overall security situation of Azad Jammu and Kashmir discussed in the meeting.  Moreover, they also exchanged views on the political situation and the AJK upcoming budget for the new financial year.

Speaking to the Prime Minister, Mohsin Naqvi said that all possible cooperation would be provided to maintain peace in Azad Kashmir and improve security situation in the area. He said that the promises made to the people of Azad Kashmir were being fulfilled.

He stressed that the Government of Pakistan stands with the Government and people of Azad Kashmir adding that all possible cooperation would be provided for the development and progress of Azad Kashmir.

The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir thanked the Interior Minister for taking immediate steps to resolve all the issues.

The deployment of the FC comes a day after the federal government announced launching operation “Azm-e-Istehkam”, a national counter-terrorism effort to turn up the heat on militants targeting Pakistan.
