DIG Police Shariq Jamal Found Dead at Lahore’s DHA Residence

LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police Lahore, Shariq Jamal Khan was found dead at a private flat in the upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area here on Saturday, local media reported.

According to police, the authorities first transferred his body to the National Hospital DHA, but later decided to move it to Jinnah Hospital for autopsy.

The deceased resided in phase-4, which was within the jurisdiction of Defence-A police station, while the flat where the incident took place falls within the jurisdiction of Nishtar police station.

Upon receiving the news, a high-profile police team rushed to the hospital to oversee the investigation.

The grieving widow of the officer was also present at the hospital, according to media reports. A case has been registered on the complaint of the wife of the deceased DIG.

Shariq Jamal Khan served in various roles, including DIG Traffic and DIG Railways. He was currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) as completion of a departmental course.

The local police, in an official statement, confirmed the launch of a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the death.
