KARACHI: The Department of Prosthodontics, Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), has successfully completed the first facial prosthesis operation.
According to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) statement, an 8-member team headed by Professor Mahmood Hussain, Head of the Prosthodontics Department, successfully replaced the eye, face, nose, and inner parts of a patient’s mouth from Umarkot district with artificial organs.

JSMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon congratulated the Prosthodontics Department of Sindh Institute of Oral Health Sciences team for crossing the important milestone. He says that people with facial disfigurement due to an accident feel lonely in society; in such a case, implanting artificial limbs in JSMU will effectively connect these people with society.
