NEW YORK: Former US President Donald Trump‘s attorneys on Friday withdrew a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Tish James filed in Florida last November seeking to block her access to a Sunshine State-based trust that holds several of his business assets.

The one-page filing says the former president “now voluntarily dismisses his claims in this action.”

The lawsuit was filed weeks after Tish James sued Trump, three of his adult children, along with his business empire for fraudulent financial practices. James is seeking up to $250 million and an order blocking Donald Trump from real estate transactions in New York for five years.

New York attorney general wins judicial order

Trump has blasted the suit after James won a judicial order in November last year that installed an independent monitor over Trump’s business dealings as the New York case proceeds. That case is in progress.

There was no immediate comment from Donald Trump’s attorneys on why they withdrew his Florida lawsuit. Still, the federal judge overseeing the case recently ripped his claims as “frivolous and vexatious.”

The Friday withdrawal also came the morning after the same Florida judge ordered around $1 million in sanctions against the former president and his attorney Alina Habba in a lawsuit against federal officials and Hillary Clinton.
