Dr. Amjad Saqib Assumes BISP Head Charge

ISLAMABAD: Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib has taken the helm as the new Chairman of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), where he was comprehensively briefed about the organization’s multifaceted initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of vulnerable segments of society.

These initiatives encompass programs such as Benazir Kafaalat, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme. During a meeting, the pivotal role of the National Socioeconomic Registry (NSER) and Dynamic Registry in registering impoverished families in BISP was also discussed.

The discussion extended to the forthcoming Hybrid Social Protection initiative, which is expected to bring transformative changes to the lives of beneficiaries and non-formal workers.

Dr. Amjad Saqib emphasized the importance of promoting financial literacy and a social agenda among BISP beneficiaries. He expressed a strong desire to enhance BISP’s image by improving payment mechanisms through banks and addressing beneficiary grievances. He called for unwavering support from the BISP team to collectively move in the right direction.

Furthermore, the Chairperson stressed the significance of ensuring transparency, a missionary spirit, and credibility within the organization, making it an attractive option for both organizations and individual philanthropists to contribute to its noble cause. He also highlighted the crucial issues of data integrity and preventing unauthorized deductions, reaffirming BISP’s commitment to its beneficiaries. He emphasized the importance of self-accountability and building an exit strategy for beneficiaries in collaboration with the public and private sectors.
